I am interested in finishing and publishing this blog before the new year starts, so the holiday pictures still are fun to see. Sometimes when the holidays are over everyone is so tired of anything holiday, that the spirit is put away until it is called back in service in 11 months.
Our tentative plan is to be at Fort Myers Yacht Basin until March 18, 2020. As someone said everything is written in pencil when we are boaters. We will have outings hopefully to the Keys, St. Pete, Everglade City and maybe other places along the way.
Since Thanksgiving we have been to Venice, Englewood, and Cayo Costa. Venice was interesting and fun. I lost my sunglasses off the dock but Rob had bought me sunglasses for Christmas, so I was all set. What a guy.
We met a delightful couple from Bradenton, FL that quit their jobs, sold their house and are going on a two year sail. Young! I bet they never go back to being landlubbers.
We tried to take the dinghy through the willy wags to Nokomis without success. It was fun trying? We had to cross the ICW to get there and that always is uncomfortable for me.
Back on the water to Cayo Costa headed back to FMYB. Again we stayed a long time at CC just because it is so peaceful. Nothing is expected of us, no one around unless you want to go to shore and walk to the beach of the Gulf.
We landed at FMYB on December 18th and with the lights on the boat we started the holiday season
starting with Christmas music. Rob and I worked on getting our Christmas cards made while at Cayo Costa. In Venice we walked to the post office to mail them. I probably would still be working on them if Rob had not helped by addressing the envelopes, stamping my name on the back of the cards I had yet to finish and being moral support, as I carried on through one of my favorite cards to make, Christmas.
Backing up to Thanksgiving Day. A friend of mine called and it was such a nice surprise.
The gala and excitement gained momentum as we joined others. Some were flying to Quebec for a few days to be with family and back to spend Christmas with her husband. I made cookies and cinnamon swirls, you know the kind that you make from leftover pie dough. I found that you can also make them with Pillsbury Pie Dough. I couldn't tell the difference.
The marina had the monthly cookout. It was unbelievable to me that so many people showed up. It was really cold that night and in fact, I had to wear my down jacket and I wasn't alone.
A couple more outings were added to the holiday season. A couple that has lots and lots of friends invited the "docktail" folks to their home for pizza and cocktails.
Several of us from the marina went out to dinner and toured the Burroughs Houses. There will be pictures in the photo section.
The best part of the blog, in my opinion and the hardest part to make it work, it is all worth it.

Sometimes the big guy needs the little guy. The captain waved and smiled so I think whatever the problem, was it was minor |

This is the inlet at Englewood. Only local knowledge knows how to navigate the inlet. Unfortunately, we saw a boat aground as it tried to cut across the entrance instead of following the markers. I don't know how they got going unless the boat was lifted when the tide came in. The maps had a warning not to enter the channel accept for local boats that knew the area. |
