Hi, I am back.

October 2017

We are at Myrtle Beach today October 22nd

I have missed you.

Since we have been here, we have been working on the boat.  A man from another boat wandered by and saw us working he was reminded of something he once told a boating friend, "if you don't like working on boats then you shouldn't have one".

Rob is installing new radios, at least now the one on bridge will be facing up instead of down, and installing an AIS so anyone in the world wants to find us they can by checking online.  I scraped a strip of teak that had layer upon layer of Cetol varnish.  I was at it for several hours for several days and today Rob and I finished up. Now I will brush on layer after layer of marine varnish. Once I sanded it, the bare teak is so beautiful.

We have loose plans for the winter since being on a schedule is counter productive to the cruising life and really it is in large part decided by Mother Nature. We waited out the hurricanes before leaving the safety of our home.

All the planning and packing did not prevent chaos in the last minutes before getting in the truck to make an appointment before heading down the road. Good friends came by to help, thank you neighba.

A friend told me I better start my blog or it will be too late to remember everything ,well it is too late to be too late. I have made a list to make it easier for both me and you to keep catch up, pictures to follow.

  1. Left on October 10th for my nephews in Alexandria, had a wonderful time
  2. Left Alexandria on Friday for Raleigh to spend time with more family, great fun
  3. While with family we had a lot of fun and a very memorable time on a Zipline, check that off my bucket list.
  4. Left Raleigh for Myrtle Beach with a detour to Plymouth, NC.  I don't expect you to know where that, is neither did we.  Plymouth is a very small town with one of the best city docks we have come across.  We did not have Plymouth in our plans but we made contact with good friends who were dock there, we stayed over night on their boat. We had a wonderful relaxing time.
  5. We left Plymouth on Tuesday morning the 16th for Myrtle Beach it was the longest 4.5 hours I have ever sat through.
  6. Arrived late afternoon and started unpacking, I was not looking forward to that because the truck was so full that there was barely room for us.
  7. We found the greatest restaurant about 3 miles from the boat, Socastee Station.
  8. The bimini has been sprayed for water proofing and is on the boat so is the Strataglass.
  9. Lots more has been put away but then the real work begins.
  10. The AIS needs to be installed, the two new radios need installation and the eyebrow needs scraping and varnishing.  All you boaters know that the chores keep on coming and when you think that you are finished you will be wrong.
Now for the picture show.

The story behind this picture give you more of a laugh.  Maggie's grandfather tied her shoes together while she was lying on the couch and she never bothered to untie them but want to be very helpful during happy hour and you can see by the look at her mother's face that it was an eye roller.

Zipline now off my bucket list.  It was a really intense course and I am thrilled to have been able to do it with Margaret and William.  Here is the picture story.

A special invitation from our friends

We walked the town of Plymouth, what there was of it, such a sad state of affairs that another cute little town has so many closed stores and no evidence that will change.

The back of the building with the front locked doors

On our truck ride to Myrtle Beach

Socastee Station, a must do.

My first posting of food

If I don't like working on a boat then I should not own a boat.
