What is a captain?

I left off in the last blog with our plan to head out with Summertime on the 28th of December for Cayo Costa to spend NYE with Nearly Perfect who was already there. Summertime and Nearly Perfect left on New Year's Day and we stayed on, with a plan of traveling north to St. Pete and Dunedin.

The wakes from the pleasure crafts were quite severe, so we were pretty much a slow boat in a fast pond.

We made it to Cayo Costa early enough in the day to still take the dinghies out.
The food and drink were great and fun.

Wally, Darcy, Jack and Patty to their dinghies to Cabbage Cay for lunch while Rob and I took our dingy to shore and walked the Cayo Costa beach.

The six of us were determined to take our dinghies through the Tunnel of Love that we all had heard so much about.  We had a great adventure with the women folk hauling the men folk through shallow water.  Once reaching the end, Darcy, Patty and I left the men behind and bushwhacked our way to the Gulf Coast.

A rainbow ushers in the new year, predicting a good year is to come

There isn't a whole lot to do while boat trapped on anchor for 3 days drinking coffee and disposing of  the filters is about all there is to do.

We intended to head north to Dunedin and St. Pete but the weather turned cold and the winds were predicted to be bad, so we headed back to Ft. Meyers.

As far as a captain definition goes.  Rob and I work great together to bring the boat to dock.  I have been yelled at by dockhands, who think that is okay to do. I am a novice at boating having only been at it for three years and yelling at me never helps. The last time I was yelled at, I yelled back and that seemed to get docking back on task. I am the one doing the lines and I want to work that out with the dock hand I don't want my role overlooked to defer to the "captain".

Finally, words of wisdom
